Torchlight – Special Offer
Dec/092
I have the perfect present for you if you’re a fan of Diablo II and don’t want to wait until Blizzard releases Diablo III.
Play Torchlight, preferably on Steam, it’s the perfect game to help you getting through the probably very long time of waiting until you can finally call Diablo III your own. Torchlight is basically an improved Diablo II clone with a 3D engine but unfortunately without a multiplayer option.
Until January 4th you can buy it for just $9.95 USD (on Steam until January 3rd for $9.99 USD). Don’t think, buy.
It’s at least as addictive as Diablo II with better graphics, smoother gameplay and if you use Steam you have Steam Cloud support and Steam Achievements. Steam Cloud support means you can play the same save games and characters wherever you log in to a Steam Client.
Happy holidays and a happy new year!!
The Games Factory Where Mario, Tetris, Sonic And Pong Were Born
Sep/090
Thanks to @dg_4und20 I found some pictures of the factory where the classic computer games Super Mario, Tetris, Sonic and Pong were created. Surprisingly development wasn’t as advanced as I thought it was in those days. But what do I know, right? The pictures look great and the Internet doesn’t lie.

Latest Trailers
Aug/090
Besides the highly expected Avatar trailer some additional and interesting trailers have been published as well. The latest and funniest is about the movie ‘The Men Who Stares At Goats’ which is about a man who claims to be a member of a psychic unit trained by the American government. The movie stars George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges and is coming to cinemas on November 6th (Germany March 4th 2010).
The next movie that caught my attention is ‘Inception’. It’s starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael Caine and is directed by Christopher Nolan who directed movies like ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Batman Begins’, ‘The Prestige’ and ‘Memento’. It will be a Science Fiction Movie, but it’s not quiet clear what exactly it’ll be about. My guess is something similar to ‘The Cell’ and/or
‘The Thirteenth Floor’. It’s supposed to hit the cinemas in July 2010 (Germany August).
The third one is ‘The Wolfman’ supposedly available to you on February 10th (Germany February 11th) 2010 at a theater near you. =) Big suprise it’s about werewolves and the trailer looks very promising. Main characters are played by Anthony Hopkins, Benicio Del Toro and Hugo Weaving.
The last movie is ‘Law Abiding Citizen’ starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx to be released on October 16th in the USA.
The Future Is Catching Up [Update]
Aug/090

Six years too early according to Robert Zemeckis and neither Sports Almanac nor DeLorean in sight.
Explanation:
So what about this post? First the picture. It’s from the second ‘Back To The Future’ movie that takes place in 2015, which is six years from now. When this future fax arrives Marty has been fired and the future doesn’t look so good until Marty and Doc travel back through time (using a DeLorean) save the original time line (by retrieving the Sports Almanac) and the fax turns blank.
Still, why this post? Simple, because I was fired as well. But don’t worry- everything goes according to plan, even though it’s plan B.
Moon And District 9 – New Sci-Fi Movies
Jul/090
Today I’d like to introduce you to two new, more unusual Sci-Fi movies I’m eager to watch.
District 9 plays in an alternate timeline where aliens made first contact 30 years ago. The unusual is that they were refugees and the last survivors of their kind. They’ve been held in Johannesburg’s District 9 for the last 30 years until humanity decides what to do with them. So far, aliens refused to share their technology with mankind which is why a private company (MNU) is now given control over District 9. But MNU couldn’t reveal the secrets of the alien’s weaponry because it can only be activated by alien’s DNA. Things get complicated for an MNU agent when he gets infected with a virus in District 9 that alters his DNA and makes him the key to the alien’s technology and therefor the most wanted human being on earth.
Moon is about Sam Bell the only inhabitant of a lunar station. Sam is just two weeks away from fulfilling his 3-year-contract when he makes an unexpected discovery that shakes his beliefs in himself, his identity, the company’s objectives and GERTY’s intentions the station’s AI.
Top Secret Movie
Jul/090
I recently found out that still not everybody knows the great movie Top Secret. The only movie where the station leaves the train! The movie stars Val Kilmer who plays a rock’n'roll star who eventually helps to free a scientist from a prison in East Germany. The movie premiered in 1984 and was written, directed and produced by the famous trio David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker who also directed movies like Airplane, Naked Gun 1, 2, 3 and partially Scary Movie 3 and 4. Top Secret is a classic spoof movie with fresh ideas and some elaborately made scenes like the Swedish book store or the fight at the end of the movie. Even though it’s more than 25 years old its simply hilarious. So whether you’ve seen the the movie or not you have to watch at least the first collection of best scenes. Enjoy!!

TRON Legacy
Jul/090
Disney has just released the first official trailer of Tron Legacy, a sequel to itsĀ over 27 years old predecessorĀ Tron. The movie will premiere in 2010 and support 3D techniques. While the story is still a bit of a mystery, some casts have been confirmed. Jeff Bridges will return in his role as Kevin Flynn and will have an adult son played by Garrett Hedlund. Bruce Boxleitner is likely to return in his original role as Alan Bradley a.k.a. Tron as well. The trailer looks really nice particularly the redesigned light cycles.
