Greatest Trailers Chosen By Experts
Jul/091
As a respond to last week’s list of 50 greatest trailers this time ifc.com listed the favorite trailers chosen by actual trailer makers. The following nine trailers are my favorites based on that list. In this collection the music and sound effects play an essential role to make the trailes as great as they are starting with Jay-Z for Miami Vice and ending with a strange but extraordinary trailer for Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’. Which one is your favorite?
…
9. Miami Vice - Just the song itself performed by Jay-Z feat. Linkin Park makes it worth being in the list. Moreover it’s a cool movie with great actors, beautiful images and lots of action.
8. Kill Bill Voll. 1 - Good music supporting the scenes and a crazy but good movie.
7. 300 – Great Images, Great music, awesome movie.
6. Little Children - Haven’t seen the movie yet and I’m not even sure if that’s my kind of movie but the trailer is great. No music used but the sound of the train reflects the dynamic of the shown scenes so well that the trailer had to be in the list.
5. Texas Chainsaw Massacre – The combination of different, repeatedly used sounds like heartbeats and flashbulbs, the simple effect of hearing sound without being able to see what’s happening and the fitting music make it a great trailer.
4. Spider-Man 2 – My favorite Spider-Man movie so far.
3. Garden State – A movie I haven’t seen yet but with amazing music, great images and without any words spoken. The Movie was written, directed and the main character played by Zach Braff who plays the main character in Scrubs.
2. Star Trek - Everything put perfectly together to create a very good trailer that immediately makes you want to see the whole movie.
1. The Shining – Very unusual trailer which is probably the reason why it’s my number one out of the experts’ list. Just watch it!

I also like the Shining trailer the most. Especially this alternate edition. It’s much better and stranger than the “original” one. The scary music and you have absolutely no idea what is happening and what’s the film about.
