Re-Re-Launch And Blog Reset
Jun/091
I’ve been using Flatpress for a little bit over a month now and I just don’t get along with it. It’s still a good choice for a blog engine if you’re not able to use a database, but the plugins sometimes don’t do what they’re supposed to do. For instance the recent comments plugin still showed comments after they were deleted. I couldn’t convince it to do differently and believe me I tried.
The smarty engine works but kind of drives you crazy if you want to combine it with custom JavaScript and PHP code. I know it’s possible but it’s annoying if you’re used to PHP/HTML files. Sorry guys at flatpress.org but since I got a database WordPress just seems to be the better choice. Which reminds me to send big thanks to my personal admin hero Rob ‘The Robbsie’ Robmin. Everything was done within 10 minutes. Yeah!!
Installing WordPress was easily done, searching for a theme and necessary plugins was a bit harder though. Eventually, I decided to use Lightword as my basic theme and thanks to zeejott at abtwittern.de I installed the ‘All in One SEO Pack’ as well. Next week I’ll customize the theme a bit, adjust the categories and that should do it.
Besides the change of the blog engine I decided to reset the blog. Why? Well, first of all I’m not in the mood to transfer my old posts again
and secondly I don’t want to compete with all the tech blogs out there. If you’re interested in latest news about mobile devices check out engadget.com
